Who owns the Ian Fleming, James Bond and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang brands?

Collectively The Ian Fleming Estate (TIFE) and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd (IFPL) control the intellectual property rights in Ian Fleming’s name and writings. TIFE and IFPL are related but separate entities. IFPL owns and administers the literary copyright in the James Bond novels and short stories as well as the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang story, whereas TIFE owns the literary copyright in other Ian Fleming works and the Chitty sequels and is responsible for the protection and exploitation of the Ian Fleming brand.

The Ian Fleming brand is distinct from the James Bond brand. The James Bond brand is owned by Amazon MGM Studios and EON Productions and is licensed back to IFPL for use in relation to the Bond literary works and for certain merchandising activities, largely related to the promotion of the Bond books.
