Young Bond

Meet James, a reasonably ordinary schoolboy destined to become the world’s most extraordinary secret agent. Orphaned at 11, he lives with his Aunt, Charmian Bond, in a small cottage in the hamlet of Pett Bottom, near Canterbury, Kent.

Young James is already fluent in French and German (due to time spent living abroad) when we encounter him, aged 13, on his first day at prestigious British public school, Eton College in 1933. Of Scottish and Swiss descent, tough and resourceful, he’s quick to make friends but a loner at heart. Determined not to be daunted by the centuries-old traditions of the place, James soon becomes a member of Eton’s elite Danger Club and quickly gets drawn into a series of explosive adventures. These take him to Scotland, Sardinia, the Caribbean, Mexico and Austria and help shape the man he is to become.

Thrown out of Eton in 1934, James briefly attends Dartington Hall, a progressive school in Devon, before joining his father’s alma mater, Fettes College in Edinburgh where more intrigue and danger await.

Before the name became a legend. Before the boy became a man. This is Bond. James Bond.
